Why convert WebP to PNG
WebP is great for the web, but some image editors, office software, printing services, and upload forms still do not accept it. PNG is supported almost everywhere, so converting a downloaded WebP image to PNG is the safest way to edit or reuse it. Transparency is preserved during conversion.
PNG is lossless, so the converted file keeps exactly what the WebP image contained, but it does not restore detail that lossy WebP compression has already removed. Because PNG stores every pixel without loss, the file is usually larger than the WebP original, especially for photos. If you only need broad compatibility for a photo, converting to JPG gives a smaller file.
