Compress AVIF
Compress AVIF images in your browser with Shrinkary: adjust quality, shrink file size further with almost no visible loss. No upload, batch, free. No sign-up.
PNG output stays lossless at quality 100; lower values make PNG files smaller with slight quality loss.
How it works
1. Choose images
Drag and drop images onto the page, or click to select files from your device.
2. Processed locally
Compression runs entirely in your browser — images are never uploaded to a server.
3. Download the result
Download each file as soon as it's ready, or grab everything at once as a ZIP.
How AVIF compression works
AVIF is a modern image format based on the AV1 video codec. It offers some of the best compression available today: at similar visual quality, AVIF files are often 30-50% smaller than JPG and noticeably smaller than WebP. It also supports transparency, HDR, and wide color gamut.
AVIF encoding is computationally heavy, so compressing large images in the browser can take longer than with JPG or WebP. Quality around 60-75 is usually enough for photos on the web. AVIF is supported by current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari (iOS 16 and later), but some older apps and image editors cannot open it yet.
