About converting HEIC to PNG
HEIC is Apple's default photo format, but it is poorly supported outside Apple devices. Converting to PNG gives you a lossless copy that opens in every browser, design tool, and operating system, which is useful when you plan to edit, annotate, or crop the image further without adding another round of lossy compression.
Because PNG is lossless, files converted from photos are often several times larger than the HEIC or a JPG of the same image.
