Why convert AVIF to JPG
AVIF is increasingly used by websites and image CDNs because it is very small, so images you download are often saved as .avif files. Many image editors, office software, messaging apps, and older systems still cannot open AVIF, while JPG is accepted almost everywhere.
Converting AVIF to JPG gives you a file you can edit, print, or upload anywhere. The JPG will usually be larger than the AVIF source, and it cannot restore detail already lost in AVIF compression. JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent areas are lost; use AVIF to PNG if you need to keep them.
