About the PNG format

PNG is a lossless image format: every pixel is stored exactly, and it supports alpha transparency. That makes it the usual choice for screenshots, icons, logos, and UI mockups, where crisp text and sharp edges matter. For camera photos, PNG files are typically several times larger than JPG.

Because PNG keeps every pixel intact, checking it at 1:1 is the reliable way to spot blurry text, misaligned pixels, or leftover edges around transparent areas. PNG files rarely carry camera EXIF data, so the EXIF panel is usually empty for them.
