Compress JPG
Compress JPG images free in your browser with Shrinkary: no upload, no watermark, no sign-up. Adjust quality, batch-shrink photos, and strip EXIF data.
PNG output stays lossless at quality 100; lower values make PNG files smaller with slight quality loss.
How it works
1. Choose images
Drag and drop images onto the page, or click to select files from your device.
2. Processed locally
Compression runs entirely in your browser — images are never uploaded to a server.
3. Download the result
Download each file as soon as it's ready, or grab everything at once as a ZIP.
How JPG compression works
JPG uses lossy compression: the image is split into small blocks and fine detail the eye is unlikely to notice is discarded. The quality setting controls how much is thrown away. Photos straight from a phone or camera are usually saved at very high quality, so re-encoding them at around 70-80 often cuts the file size by half or more with no visible difference.
Below roughly 60, artifacts start to appear: blocky patches in smooth skies, color banding, and halos around sharp edges. Text, screenshots, and line art suffer first, so for those images keep the quality higher or use PNG instead. Compress from the original whenever possible, because every extra round of JPG compression adds more loss.
