Why convert AVIF to WebP
AVIF and WebP are both modern formats for the web. AVIF usually compresses better, but WebP has been supported for longer and works in more apps, older browser versions, and content management systems. Converting AVIF to WebP is a good compromise when you need small web images that work in more places.
WebP supports transparency and animation like AVIF, and at the default quality the result stays visually close to the source. Expect the WebP file to be somewhat larger than the AVIF original. If you need the image to open in older desktop software, convert to JPG or PNG instead.
